Com Exception Error or WebSite Hangs when WebPrinting Excel Files on Server 2008 R2
Errors Version 3.0:
In Version 3.0, WebAdvantage can better detect excel issues and provide the following errors to assist in troubleshooting.
End User Error (Version 3.0.2 and Later):
Administrator Error (version 3.0.2. and Later):
Errors Version 2.x:
No error displays, WebAdvantage will remain stuck processing and never complete the print, nor will it timeout.
Applies To:
Operating Systems: Server 2008 R2 64 Bit
Version: 2.x and Later
Cause & Solution:
Windows User is Not Logged In to the Server:
Due to limitations with Microsoft Excel Programmability on Server 2008 64 Bit, a user must be logged in with an active session in order for Excel to web print.
That user must be the user specified during the WebAdvantage installation. If you are running version 3.0.2 or later the error message will also display the username.
Resolution:
1. Determine the User that needs to be Logged in:
This user can be determined by either (A) Logging in as an Administrator of WebAdvantage and web printing an excel document. The error will display the required user.
This should be the same user specified during installation.

Sample of User from Installation:
2. Log Into the server Running WebAdvantage:
Once the user is determined, log into the server with that same user, and leave that user logged in. The session may be locked, but must remain active for Web Printing via Excel to continue.
Future Solutions:
Solutions are being worked on for easier, and more robust printing of Excel documents for Server 2008 R2 and other operating systems and are scheduled to be released in WebAdvantage 4.0 in 2012 Q2.
